Can you believe it’s already May? Just four months ago, the year was a "newborn baby." Even then, some of those New Year’s resolutions were starting to falter. Instead of what often amounts to wishful thinking, some believers intentionally seek God to discern His will for them in the coming year. I have one friend who sets aside time at the end of December to go on a retreat with God and hear from Him. Another couple meets quarterly to check goals and strategize with the Father.

While I haven’t done that kind of thing in a formal way, this past January, I did talk with God about my purpose and whether I was doing what I should be. Of course, there is your personal destiny that while it may be similar to others, is uniquely you. Then there are the things that all followers of Christ should do, such as share Jesus with people and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Well, one of the things God shared with me was Micah chapter 6, verse 8. I love that verse, and in the New King James Version, it reads,

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?"

Another verse with similar instructions is Isaiah 1:17

"Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow." (NKJV)

So, I would say it appears these things are important to the Father, and He wants all of us to take heed! In our next three blog posts, we will explore “do justly”, “love mercy” and “walk humbly” more in depth!

See you then! Meanwhile, be a blessing, and be blessed!
